Three minutes for toast? This Potomac company can’t wait that long.

A Potomac-based company wants to take the speed of a microwave and the browning power of an oven and combine them — and it has raised $5 million to do it.

Hyperwave Technologies has created a patented technology that involves a wire-mesh heating element it claims can cut down cooking times, including making toast in just 30 seconds or cooking frozen pizza in a microwave with the resulting crispness of an oven, according to its website.
