Johns Hopkins says it will make largest solar energy pledge in Maryland

Johns Hopkins University plans to power its campuses with more than 250,000 megawatt hours of solar energy annually, a move the school says is one of the largest pledges to reduce greenhouse gas reductions in higher education.

Under the 15-year deal, Baltimore-based Constellation will buy energy and renewable energy certificates from a 175 megawatt solar plant being developed in Virginia and then sell them to Hopkins. The deal begins in 2021.

Mobtown Brewing Co. opens Friday in Brewers Hill

Brewers Hill — long known as the place where National Bohemian beer was produced — will gain a new, homegrown brewery this week.

Mobtown Brewing Co. will hold its grand opening Friday, head brewer Dave Carpenter said. The craft brewery is taking over the former Westinghouse Electric Corp. factory building at 4015 Foster Ave.

KeyW being acquired for $815 million by Jacobs Engineering Group

KeyW Holding Corp. has agreed to a deal to be bought out for $815 million by Jacobs Engineering Group Inc.

Jacobs will pay $11.25 per share in cash for the the Hanover cyber security firm. The offer represents a 43 percent premium to KeyW’s closing stock price of $7.86 per share on April 18. The transaction is expected to close by Aug. 31.

KeyW (NASDAQ: KEYW) shares were up 43 percent in trading Monday morning on news of the deal to $11.21.
